Worship Arts Team 

The mission of the Worship Arts Team is to support BUU’s core values through organizing Sunday services that engage the wide diversity of spiritual beliefs, needs and practices of our members, friends and visitors.

The Worship Arts Team is responsible for planning BUU’s Sunday services. Sometimes we create them ourselves, sometimes we invite someone from outside to deliver them. Currently we do not have a regular minister but do invite guest ministers for some of our services.  Planning involves such things as music, choosing readings, selecting rituals, and thinking of any special props or seating arrangement we may need. Currently our Team consists of Diane Farone (chair), Leslie Carter (music director who leads our choir), Martha House, Ginny Lopez, Nancy Murphy, Jennifer Stowell and Elaine Webber.

It takes many people to produce a Sunday service. Many of the other pieces are managed by teams other than Worship Arts, but we coordinate with them. Volunteers magically have the chairs arranged, the chalice ready for lighting, flowers from our garden, and any other physical arrangements that need to be made. We have a sign-up sheet for volunteers to greet people and hand them an Order of Service as they enter the building on Sunday mornings. We also have coordinators that schedule people to take the collection and other people to do the money counting at the end of the service. We have a technology team of volunteers that manage our sound system and recording technology and a Hospitality crew takes care of refreshments and coffee after the service. As you can see, there are many opportunities for members and friends to find places to participate in and contribute to the Sunday life of BUU.
