Social Justice Committee

 Social justice-Report to Coordinating Council February 2026 by Jan Lathrop:

1. There was an article in the Green Valley News about a Pima County Health Department mobile clinic, and they are looking for a place to park it. The committee will get more information including insurance issues. This would be perhaps a model for a healthcarefacility in Amado with it being next to the food bank and little free library.
2. A budget for the Social Justice committee was submitted for $100 less than last year as BUU is running a deficit.
3. The committee is exploring the possibility of BUU buying a water filter for Sopori Elementary School. They are awaiting a reply from the school itself.
4. The committee is considering doing voter registration again this year.
5. A journalist will be speaking Saturday morning 8:30-12:00 for Community Day at the UCCabout warrior shoes and immigration lawyers.
6. BUU offerings of 50/50 are done for 2025 and a sign is hanging at the back of the Fullerroom showing the amount that was raised.
7. The committee will be using their sign for the committee fair from last year.
