Congratulations Borderlands Unitarian Universalist on becoming a Good Trouble Congregation! The late Rep. John Lewis said “[w]hen you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to say something; you have to do something.” We know that being a Unitarian Universalist isn’t just about believing in justice, equity and compassion, but what we do to make those values come alive. Thank you to Borderlands Unitarian Universalist for honoring Rep. John Lewis’s legacy of fighting for civil rights by showing up to get into Good Trouble in 2022!

BUU Folks,

The National Celebration of UU the Vote occurred last night on zoom, celebrating the 24 congregations that completed the UU the Vote challenge by showing up and working for a good democratic outcome in the 2022 elections. There are over 1,000 UU churches in the US and our small Borderlands was one of the 24 who stepped up to help. I attended last night. Kathleen Creten and Lorelei Shober also attended. Later in March, we hope to have our own BUU celebration.

Quite a number of us (25?) wrote postcards, for two elections, Georgia and Ohio. Ginny Lopez gathered signatures for an important ballot initiative in AZ. Dana Topping, Ginny and 2 others worked at the polls on election day. These seeming small acts all across the country really did make the difference in November 2022 elections.

I am proud to be part of a Good Trouble Congregation!!
